The Republican Convention

July 16, 2024

There are three categories of winners for this week's game: Random drawing, funniest answer, and favorite answer.

The total prize amount for the week is $1,000.

The cumulative number of submitters from the three winners' groups was 87, so each person takes home $11.50.

Random Drawing

The winner of the random drawing is Flavia L. of Warby Parker Strategy Team!

Flavia was one of four members of the Warby Parker Strategy Team group to submit a quiz this week.

All 4 players win a prize!

Funniest Wrong Answer

The funniest wrong answer came from two different people and belonged to Kendall W. of Embark and Matt B. of Instruqt.

The question was "These days most aircraft have a single set of wings that can produce the drag necessary for flight. Early models like the “Wright Flyer,” which carried Teddy Roosevelt on the first flight of a former U.S. President in 1910, had what name for their stacked set of wings?"

And their answer was "X-Wing"

Ah yes, the X-Wing fighter. While it was in fact invented a long time ago, it unfortunately also exists in a galaxy far, far away. We don't think Teddy ever made it into one!

They were two of forty-seven members of their groups to submit a quiz this week.

All 47 players win a prize!

Favorite Answer

Our team's favorite answer came from Jake T. of Tegrit.

The question was "“Why did Herbert Hoover want to stop after the last poker hand? Because he was against the New Deal.” This is an excellent example of what type of word play that exploits multiple meanings of a term?"

And Jakes's answer was "Pun - Which one bird can't make, but toucan."

Ay yo! Now that's some high quality punning right there. We here at Water Cooler have an incredibly sophomoric sense of humor, and that one made us smile.

Jake was one of thirty-six members of the Tegrit group to submit a quiz this week.

All 36 players win a prize!
